Non-numbers need to be quoted:
my @array1 = ( 'a', 'b', 'c' );

$value1 and $value2 now contain references to arrays. To access the data in
the arrays you need to dereference them.

If you want the first value in each array:
print $value1->[ 0 ], $value2->[ 0 ];
If you want to print the complete contents of both arrays:
print @$value1, @$value2;
> return @value1, @value2;
return @$value1, @$value2;
