Hello all,

Has anyone used or is using Andreas Koenig's excellent little program for
downloading and installing perl modules? I'm having a little trouble getting
it to work because I am also a Linux newbie. The problem is that I can't get
the files via ftp - I have to go through a firewall (SQUID) and ncftp doesn't
support it. I have no idea if the other ftp programs do and have been trying
to find out with no luck. Whenever ncftp or ftp is used by the module I get
"connect: No route to host". The man pages for ftp talks about a preferences
file called ".netrc" located in the home directory, but I can't find it.

O.K. so this question isn't technically a perl question, but some of you may
have had some experience with the CPAN module or know of some helpful
resources somewhere.

Geraint Jones.
