I am new to the DIY computer boards so go easy on me please! I am not new to electronics however. Moving on. I am building a audio interface for amateur radio. The goal is to use nearly any headset off the shelf to plug into the Beagleboard and have audio I/O ports to play with for routing to the mic input of the radio as well as spkr out. Possibly to add a display to allow he use of some audio equalizer software to adjust the parameters of the sound to cater to the mic and listener comfort of the speakers. This may also be a launching point for DSP based receive audio for listener comfort.
