I'm a hobbyist programmer and I've used dark mode for years, I think for
two reasons. First, it makes the colors pop, which makes it feel a tad more
festive, which matches my mood when I indulge in my hobby.

Second, it marks the activity as domain of its own. If I'm pounding out
text -- I'm a writer by trade -- I use black-on-white because that's what
writing is "supposed" to look like. Dark mode makes BBEdit look to me like
a tool for coding.

But a couple of months ago I got a job that requires me to go into an
office. I of course immediately installed BBedit and started using it in
its default mode with its white background. I'd forgotten how pleasing and
readable it is. I'm leaving it like that in the office.

So, I guess I'm now bi-textual.

Happily so.
