I have BBEdit set to automatically save backups of files I change. This works as it should, but I'd like to change the filenames of the backups. I want to make it easier to ignore the backups when browsing files in Finder, BBEdit, and other programs.
So instead of getting a backup file named: index (2006-12-26 15-04-51-036).shtml I'd prefer to get something like ~index.shtml-2006_12_26-15_04_51_036.bak or something of the like. Alternatively, I'd like the backups saved in a different directory, but not ALL in the same directory. (I don't want to save everything in a directory named /backups/). I have too many files named index.shtml to do that. Having a .backup folder in each directory would be okay, for example, or perhaps a mirror of my web site's directory structure that contains only backup files. I looked through the preferences shown by defaults read com.barebones.bbedit & didn't recognize anything that would do more than the BBEdit Preferences already do. Can anyone enlighten me? -- CC -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Have a feature request? Not sure the software's working correctly?
