There comes a point beyond which such debates become religious in
nature.  Whenever one starts making rules, one needs to accept that
there will occasionally be sound reasons for making exceptions to them.
 If you can't *ever* make exceptions, you don't have rules, you have dogma.

For myself, I find the arguments in favor of putting Bacula (or whatever
else you use to do system restores, especially bare-metal restores) all
in one single tightly-defined place to be just such an exception.  The
reasoning is sound.
