It isn't. My experience with the long-term stability of data written to DVDs was rather sobering. The media regularly turned out not to be readable anymore when I needed them. Conclusion: Don't count on DVDs if you value your data.

This. I one pool for normal jobs and another copy pool for copy of fulls and incrementals. On a hard disk. DVD was *slow*, *impractical* and not *reliable*.
