Eyes are close to bleeding from all the reading, sites, etc. but still no
luck (darn close though). There are so many doc's even the main one is
really not very helpful in just getting things installed, but anyone feel
free to help someone before blindness takes over! I am close and rather
than just 'getting it working', I am also trying to understand so I can go
from backing up a local directory, to adding SD device, other servers, etc.
I have read a LOT these past few days and now I have the following. CentOS
5.5 server running, built from epel repo and yum. I have webmin installed
and the bacula module (trying to make it easier) and all 3 services
(director, sd and fd on the same box) and want to test with a local backup
of a folder. The webmin mod has a nice simple home of director, client and
file-storage status, file I select 'show status' I get the following;
Director status shows the test backups with fail.
Client status shows the local 127.0.0.1 I have setup 1st, clicking test now
I get;
Status from servername : bacula-fd Version: 2.0.3 (06 March 2007)
i686-redhat-linux-gnu redhat Enterprise releaseRunning Backup Jobs
*No backup jobs are currently running.*
*
*
Last is the storage. When I select that, I get the following;
*Failed to fetch status from File : Failed to connect to Storage daemon
File.*
So I am wondering where the problem is. As you see, I don't have a tape,
but trying to backup to a local storage area /data. I verified the correct
director-password with the one used in bacula-fd and their exact. The
/etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf file has the following;
Storage { # definition of myself
Name = bacula-sd
SDport = 9103
WorkingDirectory = /var/spool/bacula
Pid Directory = "/var/run"
Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 20
}
Director {
Name = bacula-dir
Password = "pass-here"
}
Device {
Name = FileStorage
Media Type = File
Archive Device = /data
LabelMedia = yes
Random Access = yes
AutomaticMount = yes
RemovableMedia = no
AlwaysOpen = no
}
I tried reading as much as I could, but things are working, a backup does
start, but fails when it tries to attach to the storage device, and I am
sure it's something simple or something the examples and such I had didn't
include as a lot were for tape drives.
Thanks for the time of reading and helping out ...
