Hi,
once again, I don't quite understand what is bacula is doing ;)
debian etch (amd64), postgres 8.1, bacula 2.0.3 (I know...)
This weeks differntial backup finished at:
End time: 18-Nov-2007 12:37:03
Everything was fine, no problem.
On a daily base at 18:05 I run the following command to trigger the
prune/recycle thing.
bin/echo -e "use Catalog=MyCatalog\n status dir days=14" |
/opt/bacula/sbin/bconsole -c /opt/bacula/etc/bconsole.conf -s
>/dev/null
And that's what happed yesterday after the command was run by cron.
18-Nov 18:05 VU0EM005-dir: Max configured use duration exceeded.
Marking Volume "06D133L3" as Used.
18-Nov 18:05 VU0EM005-dir: Using Volume "06D140L3" from 'Scratch' pool.
It's ok that bacula marked 06D133L3 as used, because the lastwritten
date is 2007-11-04 and the max use duration is only a few days.
What I don't understand, and what is not desired: why did bacula 'use'
volume 06D140L3 from scratch pool? There was no backup running. The
next full backup (06D133L3 and 06D140L3 are in the Full pool) is
scheduled for 2007-12-6.
sorry for the very long lines:
+---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+
| mediaid | volumename | volstatus | enabled | volbytes | volfiles |
volretention | recycle | slot | inchanger | mediatype | lastwritten |
+---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+
| 14 | 06D133L3 | Used | 1 | 97,008,629,760 | 99 |
15,552,000 | 1 | 14 | 1 | LTO3 | 2007-11-04 11:16:51 |
| 48 | 06D140L3 | Append | 1 | 64,512 | 0 |
15,552,000 | 1 | 21 | 1 | LTO3 | |
The retention times are usually set that a couple of days before the next full
backup a regular tape of the Full pool would be pruned/recycled. Now I have an
extra tape in that pool.
So, what is this message 'Using Volume "06D140L3" from 'Scratch' pool.' about,
if no backup is running or scheduled for the next 10+ days?
Ralf
