Hi all,
I have a problem with latest bacula and remote backup. I am running
bacula-dir on a Linux box, and want to backup some remote machines running
Linux (with 2.4 kernel) as well. Only a firewall is in between, open for
all 3 ports 9101:9103.
Unfortunately I can't give an exact error description, since the problem
occurs on different clients and at different times. Sometimes, I have no
problem saving all data of remote client A, then next time I get an error
after X bytes (this amount of X bytes differs as well). Error is, that the
backup job seems to "hang", nothing happens. With tcpdump I can't see any
network traffic between the 2 hosts, except one packet on port 9102 or
9103 every 2 minutes. The same happens (randomly) with other remote
clients.
After a while, I get a "ERR=broken pipe" message and the backup job is
canceled. First, I could solve this issue with "vacuum" on the sqlite DB,
but now I am using MySQL and even with that backend this error occurs.
I tried to activate "Hearbeat Interval = 60 sec" on all clients and storage
daemon, but that did not solve the issue. The only difference with this
setting is, that the job does not get canceled and nothing happens until I
manually cancel the job.
Has anybody an idea what could be wrong here? I do not think it's a
firewall issue, since sometimes even a full backup (with around 5GB data)
has no problem at all, and sometimes the error occurs after only 100MB
data.
I am looking forward to any help, I have no idea left :(
Greetings and TIA, Matthias
