I am currently working on getting this box up and running with BackupPc.
For testing purposes I used the NSLU2 loaded with the debian Etch
distro. (See http://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/unpack.html which is a
very good HowTo) Attached is a 2.5" 40GB Harddisk on port 2 (See
discussion on
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Unslung/WhichUSBPortforUnslung6)

So far I got it working with version 2.1.2 of BackupPc. Version 3 failed
to install because of a requirement for RsyncP 0.68. I was unable to
install that version because of difficulties with make and cc.

Tests with version 2 resultet in the follwing findings:
- Perfomance is slow (what did you expect?)
- Compression is a NoNo. Forget about it in this box
- I did only test rsync backup with windows clients
- Xfer rate is about 600KByte on a 100MB LAN

More tests will follow.

Peter
