Apache::AxKit::Plugin::Session questions

I have playing with this module but am having trouble getting it work.  
I am going to start from scratch and a small test case to make sure I 
understand things before I post the configs etc.  The questions that I 
have related to this info and patch on at this site:

I also see that Apache::AxKit::Plugin::Session has been updated since 
then and this patch was not included.  Is this info on the site 
correct?  If so, will it be included in the module at some point?  I 
would really like to use the style of pass thru login and I am 
wondering if I am running into some of the problems he has described.
