The bottom of the ADB page does mention some limitations at least (I don't know if is out of date), on complex type extensions and restrictions, if not complex types themselves: http://ws.apache.org/axis2/1_2/adb/adb-howto.html
If you are using extensions/restrictions you may need to switch to XMLBeans then.
