Sorry I was wrong xdg menu is now non-functional, it just doesn't do
anything. When I ran the xdg menu build it spat out the following

Is there a new way to hook xdg into the awesome menu with the upgrade?
Here again is my current hook.
mymainmenu = awful.menu({ items = { { "awesome", myawesomemenu,
beautiful.awesome_icon },
{ "xdg", xdgmenu, beautiful.awesome_icon },
{ "open terminal", "lxterminal" },
