Hi Bob,
You can use m4_easycmd to run your scripts at autoconf time. E.g. (from
autoconf itself):
AC_INIT([GNU Autoconf],
m4_esyscmd([build-aux/git-version-gen .tarball-version]),
[[email protected]])
