It would be great if someone added support for D to Autoconf. The basic idea would be to add it as a new language, with macros designed for the language, much as there is already support for Fortran and Erlang. Please consult the Autoconf source code for the hooks you'd need to use; in particular, look at the files c.m4, erlang.m4, and fortran.m4 in lib/autoconf.
