No, let's not worry about text-mode mounts. Cygwin users who insist on using text-mode mounts will simply have to be aware of the technical problems that ensue. More generally, we shouldn't waste our time rewriting every GNU program to be aware of this contrary-to-the-standard feature. The burden of this implementation misfeature should be on the people who insist on using it, not on everyone else. I don't even agree that we should waste time generating "big warning letters" in the Autoconf documentation. A small note should suffice. 25 words or less. (In lower case; we don't need to shout. :-)
