I did actually submit a patch which seems to fix the issue, though a bit more of work is required (see my comment in the package's page).

Also, given that there's a long queue of pending requests, IMHO this request can wait till November, no need to rush. And the maintainer seems active, so it's fair to give them a chance to fix it.
