MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for emacs26-git [2]: Active development on legacy emacs-26 branch seems to have been ceased in 2019. In 2022, there was one backported fix for glibc-2.34. [a]
But a development VCS package is not needed for this branch in my opinion. The emacs development happens in the master branch, not in any versioned branch. Emacs main stable version is v28 now.
