I'd not per se say that such calls are wrong.  With David's patch the
help buffer is opened in a window _above_ the LaTeX file which certainly
is _not_ what we want.  The call to `pop-to-buffer' is also a nice way
to make the output buffer easily accessible via `C-x b' because it
brings it to the front of the buffer history.
