The ATI list is now up and running after a few months of being off-line.
Please read the below information which includes the purpose of this list
and the guidelines. I have been asked to moderate the ATI list and we hope
it will once again be beneficial to all of the members.

Purpose:

ATI, (Adaptive Technology Inc.) is a special interest affiliate of the
Missouri Council of the Blind.

The list has been created to serve the ATI members with news of the adaptive
technology world. Whether it be new hardware or software that has been made
available to the visually impaired, or tips and tricks on how to make these
products work for them.

We will also be able to talk about main stream applications and how to use
those products with adaptive technology.

Although this list has mainly been created for the ATI members, it is open
to the public and anyone is welcome to join.

Members of the list may post questions about adaptive products such as Jaws,
Windoweyes, note takers, braille displays, braille embossers, magnification
programs, celluar phone software such as Mobile Speaks and Talks, or any
other adaptive product used by the visually impaired.

We also welcome posts concerning new releases of software and hardware
products in the adaptive technology world.

After you subscribe, feel free to send an introductory message to the list
at: [email protected].

Tell us a little about yourself and where you are from.

Thanks and welcome to the list.

guidelines. Please read before posting to the list.

ATI guidelines

The ATI list is a list provided by the Missouri Council of the Blind.
However, anyone who is interested in adaptive technology related issues may
join. It is an open discussion list. The following rules are put in to place
to avoid any kind of offensive traffic on the list. Please read through them
carefully, and enjoy your membership.

1. To join the list, register at:
<http://moblind.org/mailman/listinfo/ati_moblind.org>
http://moblind.org/mailman/listinfo/ati_moblind.org

You can also unsubscribe and make other changes to your subscription there.

To send an email to the list, send directly to:

[email protected]

Or, simply use the reply feature in your email client to reply to any
message you have received from the ATI list after joining.

2. When replying to a message posted on the list, please address the subject
of the message. If you are addressing a different subject, please reflect
the change in the subject field.

3. Your messages to the list may contain subjects from screen readers, OCR
programs, note takers or any other adaptive technology software and
hardware. If you know of accessible devices, new adaptive tech news websites
or anything that might be of interest to the list members, please feel free
to send the information to the list.

Please, no jokes or idle chit chat.

4. Refrain from personal attacks.

5. Please don't send personal messages to the list.

6. To reply to a message from someone on the list, you can do a control-r.
This will send your reply back to the entire list.

Please use good judgement before replying to the entire list. Ask yourself,
is this something that will benefit others on the list? If so, then by all
means, please send your reply to everyone. However, if it is a reply just
to say, I like that, thank you or how are you doing, please direct your
comment to the originator of the e-mail message only.

7. When forwarding messages to the list, please delete headers. It is very
difficult for many of our members to dig through all of these headers to
find the meat of the message. Also, the headers contain many personal email
addresses of individuals who were previously sent the message you are
forwarding, and don't appreciate having their addresses sent out to
everyone. It is ok to leave the original sender s e-mail address in the
forwarded part. In fact, The author of the message should be recognized for
his/her contribution.

If you do not know how to delete this material, we will be happy to show you
how. Also, if you aren't sure which is the sender's email address, we will
be happy to assist you with any questions you may have.

8. Please do not forward messages from suspended members.

9. Please do not forward attachments to the list.

10. Please be respectful of others. Messages containing

profane language will not be tolerated.

11. Persons who send offensive messages to the list will first be warned by
the listserve committee. This warning may take place either on or off list.
If it happens again, the message will be reviewed by the listserve
committee, and a decision will be made as to whether to take any kind of
action. If a suspension occurs, it will be forty-eight hours. The next
suspension will be seventy-two hours. The next offensive message will be
left up to the discretion of the listserve committee. If a person still
believes he/she need to appeal, He or she may appeal to the board.

12. Please do not use an alias or name other than your own on the List. If

your email client does not automatically do so, include at least your first

name in each of your messages.

13. The moderator of the ATI list serve will be the chair of the listserve
committee unless otherwise appointed by the chair. The listserve committee
will consist of no less than three members, and no more than five.

There is a set of guidelines put into place for the members of the ATI list.
If there is a questionable message sent to the list, the moderator is to
take the message to the committee, and a decision will be made within

24 hours of the message sender being informed. Hopefully, we will remain
respectful to the list moderator and the list committee as well as to the
ATI guidelines.
