I got DNS entries added to our DNS servers, so now nslookup works
for asterisk1 and asterisk1.eu.nice.com. No more segfault.
(Unavailability of DNS entry causes segfault? Unbelievable, but
appears to be true.)
So it's on the LAN, and Asterisk is up. But...
Connect to it via a browser, and try to open the FOP. At this
point the computer seems to fall off the LAN. There is no visible
sign of distress at the console. I can no longer reach it via
WinSCP or putty.
I did that earlier this afternoon, then I had to go to an hour
long meeting. When I came back, the computer was accessible over
the LAN again.
tail -f /var/log/asterisk/full returns several identical lines
showing that registration failed for an extension. (Note that I
haven't yet been able to configure the new installation. The
extension is trying to register because there was a previous
installation of Asterisk 1.4 on that machine; the installation
has been blitzed by the installation process of 1.8.) There
is no ongoing activity in that log.
Any ideas what's wrong now?
