Yeah. that would have helped! For some reason, they were not only running on the same machine, but sharing the same port number, which shouldn't really be possible...
But in any case, if you want to run Linphone (or any softphone) on the same box as Asterisk, you need to configure the softphone to use a different port for SIP than 5060, and different port for RTP than 10000-20000 (the Asterisk default).
