I have 1 4801 and a couple of 4501 doing VPN stuff. but I've not tried asterisk on them.
Soekris needs remove a couple ethernet jacks and make a box with 2 FXO and 3 FXS onboard. I wouldn;t think it would more than $50-75 to the cost of a board.
Can be the Soekris PBX...
