My intent was to tweak Greg a bit for what seemed to be condescending attitudes about the organization of the code, although I'm not going to go back and quote chapter and verse to illustrate my argument.


A e.g. from my own life was an intern I had working for me a couple of years ago. I would posit an idea--he was an intern, so oftentimes I was floating things for discussion that were off the beaten path a bit. His canonical behavior was swift and acute: "Well that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of."

After the third or fourth time I heard that phrase, I began to wonder how I was able to continuously generate ideas of that degree of negative excellence :-)

I struggled to get him to understand that it was far more useful to say something along the lines of, "Well, if we mount the board in the box with the shorter standoffs, won't it get too hot?"

That was my point.
