Ok, sounds good. So if I understand correctly Asterisk can also be used as a SIP gateway instead of SER? And when the media passes point-to-point one Asterisk server would be able to handle connecting thousands of calls concurently? Or is there still a reason why a SIP -> SER -> Asterisk -> PSTN setup would be preferable?
