This is about big business. No ILEC is going to just sit idle and watch
billions in revenue go out the window. It will be interesting to see if port
blocking ever becomes an issue. Did I buy my Internet service with out
without restrictions? Hmmmm. Cisco sells to Telco's and Cable guys. Vonage
has serious $ so I would expect serious business moves on their part. There
is no way the excuse you were given is true. The real reason? Vonage
probably went nuts and told Cisco to fix the problem. I know I would, how
about the rest of you? There are other providers of hardware starting to
gear up for mass production of terminal adapters. It will all happen before
the end of the year.

I think part of the reason also is that Sipura did not like the Linksys move. It undermined their ability to sell their units at $75+, while Linksys sold them for under $50. I have heard of other companies (besides us) who have also slammed hard down on Sipura with this issue. Even those who buy quantities of 2000+ at a time do not even get a price below $50 from Sipura. I would speculate that Sipura and Cisco got together in the last couple of days and decided it was in their best interest to pull these off of the market for now. They will probably come back later at a higher price more in line with what Sipura would approve of.
