Shawn,

Please describe your situation a little better.  I am experiencing what appears to be the same thing with a clone card and am trying to gather data.

  1. Is it a true Digium card or is it a clone/modem card?
  2. What is the specific situation?  Does the CLI show anything such as a CallerID checksum error or no message regarding CID at all?
  3. Does the card appear to function correctly other than Caller ID working?  Meetme and Music on Hold work properly?
  4. Did it ever work?  Did it work a few times then start giving errors or did it never give a correct CID string?

As for where to start troubleshooting, here are a few tips on things to try.  Some I have tried in my situation, some I have not.

  1. Make sure that your Asterisk card is the only device plugged into the phone line to eliminate other devices causing noise on the line
  2. Move your card to a different PCI slot to see if the card is picking up RF noise from another card.
  3. Play with the rxgain and txgain values in Zapata.conf to see if the audio level is just too low to support proper decoding

Please feel free to contact me off-list if you prefer.  I don’t think most people like to see clone card discussions on the list, but there are a couple of people that are seeing the same issue with a Digium card as well, so there is some interest on the list as well.

Jeremy
