seems to work. I copied the dahdi.init to /etc/rc.d/init.d/dahdi, run
chkconfig dahdi on and reboot
and modules are now loaded...

I am using DAHDI-linux-complete 2.11.1
I saw mention in my search that it has been fixed after 2.11.1 but
cannot find
what the fix is.
