I always do Debian, but, as others have pointed out, six one, half-dozen the other. I always build from source and typically rebuild the kernel as well in a lot of cases (i.e. to make ztdummy work well requires a 1000 Hz timing resolution), so it's not really an issue either way. Linux is Linux is Linux.
