I am running an old SUSE 7.3 system, 2.4 kernel and glibc 2.2 I picked up the ncurses-devel rpm and it now requires glibc 2.3 I found a glibc 2.4 rpm but I am a little reluctent to install it. It would be a disaster to lose this system.
Are there any incompatibilities to look out for in installing glibc? In particuliar is there a kernel/glibc kernel match. Is the latest glibc backward compatible? I guess there could be a gcc problem starting at some rev.
