The two main books I am currently using are:

Carmine Cannatello "Advanced Assembler Language and MVS Interfaces". (both editions)

Houtekamer/Artis "MVS I/O Subsystems; Confiuration Management and Performance Analysis"

I have other books, but those two are, so far, the best at what I am looking for.

Cannatello is good for examples but appears CKD and ECKD based.

Houtekamer/Artis includes ECKD, but is more of a reference and not a training manual.

Additionally, the IBM PoP is more at the machine level and not at the OS level. It is very good for understanding the CCW, including chaining, but not really good for understanding the device commands.

I also have some of the older IBM device manuals, but they are more of a reference, not a training document.

And, as always, I may just need to be pointed to the correct IBM manual that I don't yet know to look at.

Subject: Looking for a good book on ECKD EXCP, CCWs, etc.

I have several books that include basic EXCP/CCW dasd programming, but nothing
that I would consider 'deep' enough on ECKD programming. Some of the books I
have are were good with CKD, but not ECKD.

So, I am looking for suggestions for books that are designed to teach someone
complex ECKD programming within the restrictions imposed by the OS.
