+1 for UTF-8. I have two desktop systems, both Intel, neither Windows. Both read messages to these lists containing non-Latin characters readily. Problems arise only for defective MIME headers. -1 for UTF-EBCDIC. Complexity is rarely mitigated by increased complexity. -- gil
