Because of some changes that IBM has made in z/OS R1.13, there is a potential for System corruption when older releases of z/XDC (z1.12 and older) are run in z/OS R1.13.

I want to emphasize that it is not(!) likely that other z/OS software will have the same issues that z/XDC does.

I also want to emphasize that these issues have been corrected in our z1.13 release of z/XDC, and that z1.13 will be made available both when z/OS R1.13 is G.A.'d and to anyone else amongst our customers who is running a pre-release version of z/OS R1.13.

I also want to emphasize that the problems that z1.12 and older releases of z/XDC have in z/OS R1.13 are intermittent and can be hidden and can be remote from z/XDC.

Accordingly, we will not support the running release z1.12 (and older) of z/XDC in z/OS R1.13, and recently we have even gone so far as to post maintenance for z1.12 that, once applied, will prevent z1.12 from even running within z/OS R1.13.

If you are currently running z/OS R1.13 and also running z/XDC z1.12 (or older), please immediately contact us privately so that we may send you our beta of z1.13.

Thank You,

The best I can say, Ed, is that I find that "surprising". More privately.

Sometime in September (guess when), we will be publishing release
z1.13 of z/XDC.

There is more information at our Facebook page. To access it, get
onto Facebook, search for "ColeSoft Marketing" and "Like" (i.e. opt
in to) our page there.

We have been using z/XDC z1.12 under z/OS 1.13 since January without any obvious
problems. I guess we've just been lucky. Either that or we're not very
sophisticated users. ;-)
