Hi Igor

Hopefully Ben Allan will give a response to your proposal. I'll try to
answer some of your questions.

To apply you need to use the GSOC website and submit a document
including what you propose to do, what your experience is, etc.

One student per project. We don't want to risk duplicating effort; we
want to get the most out of our applicants. Note that there has already
been some strong interest from other students for this Parallelising
project, so you might want to improve your chances by choosing another
project as well (two applications). I think that our main priority areas
are around improving DAE syntax and support for IDA, full support for
IPOPT including hessian matrix calculation, domain-specific modelling,
and improvements to the PyGTK GUI. So consider those projects carefully.

We will organise weekly acheivement targets and conduct regular email
discussion on the ascend-developers mailing list. Because of the
geographically dispersed nature of the group, online chat is too
difficult to manage. We can have some initial phone discussions to get
things going though, once/if you're accepted.

I think that any student working on this project would need to have
access to their own hardware, on one form or another. Otherwise, propose
a different project.

Email is best at this stage, hope that's OK with you.

Cheers
