Koyb,
BMC Recommends as little as possible between the Remedy server and the DB
Server, in fact, for optimal performance, BMC recommends direct connection
bypassing switch and everything. So, to add a packet
monitoring/modification appliance between the two would certainly be a
possible cause of concern and a possible cause of performance, but, the
simple fact that it's there does NOT mean that it's causing you performance
problems.

You can determine if it's a performance concern or not by doing SQL level
logging. Ideal would be to run a series of tests, one with the firewall in
place, and another without it in place, and use the logs from both to
determine a % of impact that the firewall has....but, without that, I would
simply try to troubleshoot the performance issues 'per normal' and only
point to the DB if I'm able to determine the connection speed to be a
factor.
