You're awesome. That worked exactly as needed. Also, I'm being pretty happy with 8.1 so far in general now that I'm getting it working correctly. Sometimes it seems like BMC introduces beta software as the first release but I just completed upgrading my development system (with a copy of the production database) relatively issue free minus a few mistakes I made. The only feature I want to get working that I haven't yet is the chat system. Of course, that will be a project on its own since I'd like to try to get it up and running and integrated with Office Communicator.

Creating a Form overlay does not immediately mean that you loose the visibility on the base items.....so, if the only changes you have are 5 custom fields..this is REALLY easy. Upgrade your server to 8.1 Server, go into the Change form. Go to the 'Definitions' tab, and mark everything 'No Overlay', then go to the Best Practice View, outline tab, switch to the 'list' instead of the 'tree' view, and scroll all the way to the right. Sort by the 'View Customization' column, and take highlight anything that says 'True' and right click and say 'remove from view overlay'....and delete any overlays on fields that you don't need overlay on.... What this does, is tells Remedy that yes, there is a Form overlay, and a View overlay, but none of the fields (except your custom fields) are modifying the display properties of the view...this gives you the base attributes of all of the fields, and the only thing that is being overlaid is your 5 custom fields.
