I agree in wising that there was more info available.  Some guidance around
normalization would be great.  A best practices white paper, something.

I think one of the many missing pieces of the puzzle is how to take your
custom Product Catalog and merge the data BMC is now providing (again).
 Since they are including a few more products in each PC release their PC
data may/should start to take the place the PC data your team had to create
out of necessity when there wasn't any.

I am looking to follow BMC's lead regarding PC data where possible since it
also relates to ADDM is "consistent product categorization using industry
standard categories for software based on IDC Software Taxonomy".  Ideally
a large percentage of enterprise products will be supplied and maintained
by BMC and we would only have to fill in the gaps with our industry
specific and homegrown apps.  But how is this done?  I don't want
to blindly run the PC installer against our PC data.

Another nice nice topic to have some info on: what is the best way to keep
Product Catalogs updated between environments?
