I do this all the time. It should work well.... no problems restoring the database and it should come up fine (just that it won't be licensed until you change the license file, change some hard-coded server references (that don't affect startup)) as long as you have the same base SQL-Server setup and are running the same versions of Remedy between the boxes....

Just spoke to the DBA - what he actually did was:
1) Made a backup copy of Production.
2) Restored the backup copy to the Sandbox.
This appears to be quite different from replication - could this be
the source of the problem.
