In your SQL Configuration Manager, did you set your TCP/IP ports to 1433?
The instance name should be what you called your SQL Server database when
you installed it. When you log into the Configuration Manager (if you
installed the SQL management tools) you should be able to see the Instance
name.

Subject: SQL failing with port 1433 & Instance Name

**

On sql, I'm trying to install ARS but keep getting this message no matter
what i do. I've run out of ideas. Plus i'm unsure what the AR System Server
DB Instance Name should be, or how to find it.

tcp/ip connection to the host (#) using port number 1433 failed.

Possible causes:

Database services are not available/running or network configuration is not
configured correctly for tcp/ip protocol or ip or host name/port number is
incorrect.
