Hi Guys, Kaye resolved her problem. Currency fields are generally ugly and poorly thought out. To import them she had to build an appropriate string with x'04' separators as in the following (edited) conversation: Cheers Ben Chernys www.softwaretoolhouse.com From: Kaye Bernales [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: June 10, 2009 11:01 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: how to import into currency fields?
it worked! the approach to set non aud currencies to 0 :) thanks! kaye _____ From: Ben Chernys [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, 10 June 2009 4:39 PM To: Kaye Bernales Subject: RE: how to import into currency fields? Hi Kaye, The Square box is a separator character an x'04' The fields in q are the entered amount, the entered currency, the conversion date, the number of functional currencies,a nd then three elements for each functional currency defined in the field on the form. You may be able to generate a similar text string with a null for the date and 0 for all non-aud currencies but I am not sure about this. Not sure how you can import only the single currency value. If this is a one-time thing, and AUD is the default currency, I can give you a Meta-Update 30 day trial license and you could import a number such as "10000.00" Cheers Ben _____ From: Kaye Bernales [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: June 10, 2009 10:25 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: how to import into currency fields? Hi Ben! Hmm.. I tried to get a report and it gave: SCHEMA "AST:ComputerSystem" FIELDS "Unit Price" FLD-ID 270002010 DTYPES CURRENCY DATA "10000.00AUD1090884199410000.00AUD7688.30USD59867.90HKD4058.20GBP " I am now confused on how to populate that field with that format :D I am only given value for one currency (AUD) :) Thanks! Hi Kaye, Of-course, you could use Meta-Update - especially since you know it :) To see the required format for the import tool, simple take a currency value in the user tool and do a report of that single record and field into an arx file. Also, if you are trying to send data with "$" characters, I believe you will have a problem. You should import numeric fields with 2 decimal points (cents) - which has worked for me in the past. We are using Remedy import tool and have tried to import with values: 0.00, 0, 0.00 AUD to no avail...We are always getting error that the imported value is not a correct value for the field.. We are using Remedy 6.3. Any ideas on how we could import values? Thanks! Kaye NOTICE The information contained in this email is confidential.
