Mike,

Load balancing softwares usually communicate with the port the application is
using and if that port offers no response, it knows the service is down. So you
do not really need to write any script. It should be availabe in the LB
interface.

I haven't had a look at the Cisco interface, but I would start looking there to
see what tools are already available within the the box that could monitor that.

Subject: Cisco Loadbalancing Keepalive Scripts

We are using a Cisco loadbalancer in front of our three application servers and
we are trying to configure it with a script to determine some "ok" application
response. We were considering writing an API script to login and return some
message. Has anyone done this or have any better easier suggestions?

We are running ARS 7.1 patch 5

Mike
