We do this often in our systems. The only thing I am aware of that is an issue is server references in the different databases. We have scripts that we execute to replace embedded server references. I might also add that I am in a SQL environment.

We try to keep them in sync, but don't always succeed. Our dba is suggesting simply replacing the data in the test database with data from the live database. Are there any pitfalls that we should be aware of?
