>From my point of view, I am not sure that fore-knowledge is my deciding factor.
I want someone that has a deep understanding of computing and software and is able to and does learn fast and competently. When problems are encountered, the person who wants to solve that problem must learn about that problem. Sure, if that person were familiar with the language and accoutrements of the problem, it would be helpful. But if that person was a gifted thinker, learning quickly and competently, then learning an application like Remedy or even (shudder) ITSM, should take very little time indeed. That being said, I have attended many interviews as the interviewee. In one of the most interesting, question-wise at least, I was asked what type of car I drove. I asked why (after answering) and was given a table of cars and personalities that the interviewer had memorised. Have fun, Ben Ben Chernys Senior Software Architect Software Tool House Inc. Even if the interviewee did not know the answer - exactly - it would get them talking about push, set, notifications and messaging.
