Hi Greg,

There is a KB article on this; Remedy uses a proprietary protocol for this.
Tough luck, I'm sorry...

Questions regarding attachments in ARS and whether it has a unique
conversion system of the attachment files (in the attachment pool field in
the mid-tier) and permeates a virus checker.

1) Does ARS compress the attachment files between browser and ARS server?
2) If yes, where?
3) Does ARS use a standard compress format or a unique compress format for
ARS?
4) Does the communication between the browser and the mid-tier use a HTTP
protocol?
5) Does ARS use the same mechanism which a HTTP protocol has when
uploading/downloading the attachment files in the browser?

Hi Listers,

Has anyone figured out what compression method is used to store
attachments as blobs in Oracle yet. I thought I would use Oracle FTS
instead of AR FTS as it wont cost us any extra but it cant create FTS
indexes on the compressed text in the column.

Thanks in advance
