the best way i can describe bungee jumping is like a backwards trampoline that
makes you go really high. you free fall for a long time untill the cord catches
you, then it stretches and bounces you back up, and you free fall again and go
back up and back down untill the bungee loses most of its energy.

Sky diving is all free fall untill you hit the rip-cord, then you basically
just feel your chest get catched (mostly around your sholders) and your feet
swing out below you, and you just float down.

both the acceleration feels alot like that 34ft jump you took, but much much
more intense, but once you reach terminal velocity (highest rate you can fall
given your weight and surface area) you get used to it. its alot like being in
a car thats accelerating to 200mph in just a few seconds, but once it reaches
200, you dont feel the forces that much because you are no longer accelerating,
your just traveling at a constant speed.I have done it many times. All i can
say is that other than jumping out of an airplane there is no other rush in the
world like it. When you first jump off it kind of takes your breath away, kinda
like the first hill of a rollercoaster only 10,000 times more intense, your
muscles tighten up (natural instinct for your body to brace for impact) and you
struggle to scream. When you finally reach the bottom of your jump and the cord
is stretching, your starting to breath again and your muscles relax... you
think it's over, but then your slung back in the air like
a rocket! The best part of every jump is the point after your flung back up
and your at the peak... your 100% weightless, your floating there momentarily
and you now know what astronaughts feel... floating in mid air. Then you
basically bungee again because you drop, and do it about 3 or times before your
jump is over.
There are different ways of bungee jumping, you can have a chest harness where
you fall like your standing up, or the feet harness like you see on tv. I would
recommend the chest harness the first time or two, then switch to the feet.
Trust me when i say you will never ride a rollercoaster that will beat the
thrill of a bungee jump.
