Lest We Forget… ========== Veterans Day is Tuesday, November 11, and in honor of our local veterans, The Theatre Company, a member organization of the Ozark Arts Council, will present its [annual Veterans Day Show, **_Lest We Forget…_** at **2:00 PM Sunday, November 9,** at the historic Lyric Theater](http://ticketpeak.com/lyrictheatre) on the Harrison Square.
Each year, the OAC and all of its member organizations consider it a privilege to join with those throughout the United States honoring veterans: those who have come home, those still in the midst of battle, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Through song, film, memorials, and demonstrations, The Theatre Company will once again ignite in all who attend a sense of pride in our country and those who serve. This production (compiled, written and directed by Madeleine Middleton, a Marine wife and mother, and a member of Harrison Colony DAR, and her assistant director, [Vive Allen](http://twelveoaksestate.com/), NSDAR Veterans Administration Volunteer Services Representative) is unique in showcasing [The Doolittle Raiders](http://www.doolittleraider.com/), [The Tuskegee Airmen](http://tuskegeeairmen.org/), a [History of Veterans Day](http://www.va.gov/opa/vetsday/vetdayhistory.asp) and the [Vietnam 40th Reunion](http://www.c-span.org/video/?312751-1/vietnam-pow-homecoming-anniversary). A highlight of this year’s tribute will be the showing of [the documentary film _The Storykeeper,_](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2470876/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) directed by Rogier Van Beeck Calkoen and written by Erin Byrne. This documentary film is especially meaningful to our local area as Kirby Cowan, a native and a decorated veteran, was a member of that fated flight. The story evolves from the memory of seven year old Parisian, [Rene Psarolis](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5335938/). He watched as a B-17 soared over a Paris neighborhood in 1944 and crashed in an explosion that continues to reverberate in the child’s mind. What Happened? Did they all die or did some survive? The film has received many awards including screenings at the [Universe Multicultural Film Festival 2014](http://www.umfilms.org/Home.html), the [Jaipur International Film Festival 2013](http://www.jiffindia.org/), and the [Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival 2013](http://www.hsdfi.org/). Another honored native and veteran, [Colonel David Fitton, USAF Ret.](http://harrisondaily.com/news/colonel-fitton-gets-his-wings/article_67686434-4347-11e3-b84a-0019bb2963f4.html?TNNoMobile), will give an excerpt from [Elmer Bendiner’s](http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/b/Fall-of-Fortresses-Bendiner.htm#.VFfm1ihSGP8) book, _[The Fall of Fortresses](http://www.amazon.com/The-Fall-Fortresses-Personal-American/dp/0399123725)._ The production will be highlighted with musical numbers featuring [Mark Mancil](https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-String-Slingers/205267706222275?sk=info), singing "Honor to Serve"; [Julianna Stefanski](http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stefanski-14) singing "Whatever Lola Wants", from the musical _Damn Yankees_; Greg Gibson, with "Not Just Names on a Wall" and the dynamic duo of Lisa Johnson and Ann Lemley and their rendition of "Bosom Buddies" from _Mame._ The Theatre Company, in conjunction with the OAC, invites all in the community to join us in recognizing those who have served and those serving with honor, respect, and bravery; those brave men and women who have sacrificed so much that we might all remain free. A reception will follow the event hosted by the Ozark Arts Council and [Harrison Colony Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution](http://arkansas-dar.org/harrisoncolony.htm). **Admission is $5, but free for all veterans.** ========== About the OAC… ========== The Ozark Arts Council is a cultural treasure created with money, labor, materials, and support from the entire community and is dedicated to enriching lives by promoting the arts in Harrison and North Arkansas.
