> WARNING !!! The last program you uninstalled may be causing severe
> performance degradation!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you've owned a computer for any length of time, you have inevitably
downloaded, installed, and later gotten rid of program after program. What
you may not realize, though, is that uninstalling a program often leaves
you with unwanted "leftovers" that irrefutably gunk up your system one
way or another.

Left untouched, your system will begin to suffer severe deterioration,
whether it's from fragmented files, wasted disk space, and worse of all:
an unoptimized system registry.

That's why it's critically important to maintain your system regularly.
And ask any PC professional: a well maintained system equates to the
same elated feeling one gets after a fresh format and a reinstall of
Windows.

So, what can you do to get your system running in tip-top shape?

> Create music CDs, .MP3 CDs, backups, movie CDs, copy CDs, and much more!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a fact that many users can't use Windows XP's built-in CD Burning
features simply because their CD burner's aren't compatible, or because
it's a huge hassle just to make it work (requiring third-party software and
plenty of technical knowledge).

And heck, creating a CD shouldn't be that difficult!

Thankfully there's a much better alternative to Windows XP's built-in CD
Burning feature -- and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to use it!

How does it work? Answer:

> Microsoft Embroiled in MP3 Patent Debate

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

by John Emerson
Infopackets Gazette
Infopackets Contributor

Microsoft has been embroiled in legal troubles countless times in the past.
Last year they were on the butt-end of a class-action lawsuit filed after a
collective of consumers became enraged with the company's invasive Windows
Genuine Advantage (WGA). Eventually, the company toned down its piracy
policy, relegating WGA to second tier news. However, Microsoft is again on
the wrong end of court ...

" After seeing Spyware Doctor mentioned in your newsletter, I decided to
compare it against my antiSpyware regimen (Adaware and Spybot S&D).

Not only did Spyware Doctor find more traces of Spyware on my machine,
I was *completely* blown away at just how many layers of protection it
offers. It's truly a great piece of software and I can see why it won
so many awards. Thank you, Dennis, for recommending Spyware Doctor. It
was the best thing I've downloaded in years! " ~ Gazette Reader Neil S.

Cacheability Engine

To help you understand how Web Caches will treat a Web page, the
Cacheability Engine will look at a URL (and optionally any images or
objects associated with it), giving both specific cache-related data about
it, and a general commentary on how cacheable the object is.

" Dear Dennis,

Your recent article on CD burning software was just what I needed to read.
I had constant trouble with Sonic with my Windows XP (and Service Pack 2
installed). Sonic would constantly lock up my PC.

I read the article on Ashampoo CD Burning Studio and decided to try it. It
worked perfect for what I wanted to do, which was to backup some files. As
you said, it was easy to use and quick, copying from my hard drive and
memory key. Thanks for your research in good quality products. I am a die-hard
fan of your newsletter. "

What else can Ashampoo CD Burning Studio do?

Last November I wrote about an article concerning the Microsoft/Novell
Pact, where Inter-operability was supposedly the aim of both companies. I
also said that only the future would disclose the truth of the matter.
Well, the truth is out and it ain't pretty!

Over the past few months, Mr. Steve Ballmer (CEO of Microsoft) made a
series of claims to the effect that Linux was ...

As software and technology expand to make sharing digital content on the
web easier than ever before, the flipside of the coin is that many media
companies are losing control over the disbursement of their copyrighted
material. This is especially true in terms of copyrighted content illegally
shared on popular web portals, such as YouTube.com.

In the fierce fight for copyright ...

The One Laptop Per Child XO laptops will now include an anti-theft kill-

profit in the black market. (Source: arstechnica.com)

The decision to add the kill-switch stems from requests from the OLPC

Before you take Vista the plunge -- think first!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

With any new operating system installation: whether it's a clean install
or an upgrade, you should *ALWAYS* expect the worst case scenario.

For example, what if:

--> Vista fails to install properly, leaving you with an unbootable PC?

--> You accidentally select the wrong option and erase your entire hard
drive during the installation? Don't laugh: it happens!

--> And worse yet: what if the programs and hardware peripherals (scanners,
digital cameras, etc) you rely on day-to-day aren't compatible with Vista?

Answer: revert your computer back to your previous Windows installation.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that. That's why it's *critically*
important to make a disk image backup of your system *before* you migrate
to Vista. Ask any expert, and they'll tell you: MAKE A DISK IMAGE BACKUP,
FIRST!

Acronis True Image is one of the most reliable, trusted, and complete
disk imaging backup solutions on the market today. With True Image, you
backup and revert your *entire system* to a previous healthy state ...
often within minutes.

Don't take the chance!
