Dunno if this is a cause, but there ARE some very bad behavior issues with
the 3.4.1-2 or -3 versions of kdebase as delivered from the arch extra
repo.
I have placed kdebase into "ignorepkg" status (see the field in
/etc/pacman.conf) until such time as this gets resolved. I am not sure if
you can still get this from any of the arch repos, but IF you are at -2 or
-3, perhaps the older one is still in your /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
"directory".
For the record, so as to compare notes. I did an upgrade yesterday on a
KDE box. (personally, I never touch the thing!)
3.4.1-2 and everything was crashing on KDE launch. 3.4.1-3 fixed me
right up.
Your results may vary. Do not attempt this at home. Tips good for a
limited time only, available now at a dealer near you. Void where
prohibited. Or prohibitive.
