Hmmm, I think it may depend on the number of APs in the area... I'd assume it just kinda checks what's out there, then afterwards, goes back and collects all the other information (link quality, etc) >From my apartment I can see 8 different wireless networks (and yes, most are unsecured, heh) and it takes maybe 5-6 seconds to do a scan...
